The «Foro de Encuentro Argentino» was a voluntary network of people, which took no account of their party, religion or any other affiliation. It had no head office, structure, authorities, registration, records or monetary contributions. The Foro reunited people of all ages and from the most diverse professional backgrounds (academics; scientists; diplomats; businessmen; members of the civil society and the military; politicians) to engage in a rational, tolerant, moderate dialogue, accepting all points of view, with no party influences, and aimed at making positive proposals for the future rather than a raking over the past with a view to fixing blame.

Members shared their experience and knowledge, each in its own sphere of activity and from his personal and political point of view. Membership of the Foro was by invitation. Activities were regulated by the «Rules of the Game» observed by all members.

From 2009 up until 2012, the Foro held a series of meetings on topics relevant to 21st-century Argentina; at these meetings, participants exchanged opinions on how to overcome Argentina’s decline in the international arena and build-up a consensus around values and long-term policies to achieve that objective.
